Amalgamated Film Enterprises This British film production company was behind the production of Harry Bromley Davenport's low-budget science fiction movie, XTRO which was filmed in early 1982. Amalgamated Film Enterprises (AFE) was headed by Stuart Lyons, and was likely the basis toward the naming of the IVER-affiliated AFE Video label [see above tab]. Manchester born Lyons was a prominant figure in showbusiness, having become involved in the casting of various films. He was also the producer for Bryan Forbes' The Slipper and the Rose, which appeared on tape through IVER in November 1981. He died in 23 February 1998, aged 69.
Interestingly, XTRO was briefly cited as a "video nasty" during its initial release on tape by Polygram. The film has since re-appeared both on tape, and on disc as recently as July 2009 by the trailblazing Optimum Releasing.
